Description

These tiny “problem solvers” serve as a launching pad for discussions about trust, sharing of feelings, and self-expression. Students learn how people in Guatemala use worry dolls to unload problems, fears, and apprehensions. They talk about how different cultures and individuals employ avenues for expression, and learn how to create several of their own small dolls, along with clothing, household items, and decorative boxes in which to hold them.

Students Will

  • learn to create their own worry doll.
  • study the culture of Guatemala and how worry dolls are used.
  • discuss different avenues for self expression.

School Fee: $150 for up to 25 students; Supply fee of $2.00 per student.

Deadline: Minimum of three weeks prior to requested program date.
Cancellation Policy: A program is confirmed when you receive your contract by mail, fax, or email. Should illness, inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances prevent the program taking place as scheduled, Young Audiences will offer the option of rescheduling or using a substitute artist. Programs canceled by a school or community presenter after confirmation are subject to full payment. A $25 rescheduling fee will be charged if a schedule change is requested after a program has been confirmed.
After School Policy: A teacher or afterschool employee must remain with class at all times.
