Description

With "djembe" drum, shakers and sticks, Leo brings his love of African music alive. In addition to teaching children how to play traditional musical instruments, Leo also shares ancient folktales, songs, and dances from Africa. Basic rhythms and time, dance techniques and exercises come together for an exciting glimpse into African culture.

Students Will

  • experience African storytelling through drums
  • create their own drumming groups
  • learn basic drum rhythms

Deadline: Minimum of three weeks prior to requested start date.
Cancellation Policy: A program is confirmed when you receive your contract by mail, fax, or email. Should illness, inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances prevent the program taking place as scheduled, Young Audiences will offer the option of rescheduling or using a substitute artist. Programs canceled by a school or community presenter after confirmation are subject to full payment. A $25 rescheduling fee will be charged if a schedule change is requested after a program has been confirmed.
After School Policy: A teacher or afterschool employee must remain with class at all times.
